ARDN Launches Student Internship Website

Bookmark and Share

The Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) has launched The Community Engaged Rural Learning Initiative (CERLI) website which will help bring Alberta’s post-secondary students to rural communities.

The site will be a virtual meeting place where students can research rural communities, search for work placements, share stories, advice and experience, and communities can advertise themselves and their internship opportunities.

For many students from Alberta’s large urban centres, completing a placement in one of the province’s smaller rural communities might seem like a big change. CERLI aims to help by creating an online community of other students who have also been relocated to rural areas, rural communities that have hosted student placements, and post-secondary program directors who can be a source of answers and advice.

The CERLI website currently features an expanding directory of Alberta community profiles, each with information ranging from how to spend your time to where to find a dentist. The rural placement list of resources for students will also continue to grow.

CERLI started at an Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) conference when a small group of people realized that there was value in working together to bring students into Alberta’s rural communities.
